Ex-Prime Minister Joins Coalition for Italy’s Next Election

Former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Roberto Moroni, a Northern League member, have recently claimed they are joining forces in the country's next election. They add that if they are elected, they will not be named Prime Ministers, but instead will choose one together. While both have different ideas of who to name, Berlusconi wanting to put forth his political heir and Moroni pressing for an old finance minister of Berlusconi's, the thought of the other's top choice is putting both men on edge. Many are also indecisive as to if they should support the joint nominee team due to Mr. Berlusconi's recent tax fraud and other illegal activities. The pair's aim, however, is to win 40 percent of the votes, enough to control the Parliament.
This article, after further examination and research, has left me trying to decide if I would support this legislative team or not. In the past, these men have known to be power-crazy and selfish billionaires with decieving plans. In my personal opoinion, I would not like those kinds of people to have a large say in the way my country is governed or who will be the next to govern it. In an election, I would like to vote for someone sincere and honest, not someone with tax frauds on his record. Although those two men won't be the ones actually accepting the positionof Prime Minister, everyone always says that one's friends are similar to themselves.
The Berlusconi-Moroni team will have a large impact on Italy's government. If the two men are elected, they will name a new Prime Minister who will be in term until the next election. The men will choose their own political leader, without the government's consent. This could be a bad judgement call for the government, if they are elected. They may pick a very unworthy person to be the head of government. If these men get elected and others see that they can choose another person without anyone else's consent if they are originally elected, an uprising could begin. This leadership team could ultimately alter the government's policies forever.
