This island country in Latin America would be in stage 3 of the DMT. The birth rate is at a high, but will start to decrease towards the already low death rate. This slow decrease will cause a gradual fall in population growth. As years pass, it is predicted that the birth rate will decrease due to better heath care and a slimmer need for children. A reliable hypothesis as to why the death rate would be low in the future is that with the better health care also comes better diets for the people of Haiti. This will lead to less malnourishment and infant mortality due to disease.
